Law enforcement in the Lviv region is asking the public for any information that could help uncover the circumstances of a fatal road accident. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the emergency hotline at “102” or reach out to the nearest police department.
The incident occurred on December 13 at around 5:20 PM on Komarynivska Street in the village of Cherlyanske Peredmistia, located in the Lviv district.
Preliminary police findings indicate that an unidentified driver in an unknown vehicle struck a 64-year-old local resident. The driver fled the scene without providing any assistance to the victim.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators from the Department for Transport Crime Investigations of the Lviv Region Police have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with an additional option to revoke the right to drive for up to three years or without such a penalty.
Currently, law enforcement is conducting a series of operational and investigative measures. Efforts are focused on identifying the driver and locating the vehicle involved in the accident.
