Motorcyclist and cyclist injured in Lviv district

In the Lviv district over the past 24 hours there were two road traffic collisions in which a motorcyclist and a cyclist were injured. Both casualties were taken to hospital, and law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incidents.

At around 14:00 on 19 June on the Kyiv–Chop motorway in the village of Solonka in the Lviv district, a Peugeot Boxer driven by a 58-year-old Lviv resident collided with a BMW K1600GTL motorcycle ridden by a 44-year-old resident of Lviv. As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist sustained bodily injuries and was taken to hospital.

Another collision occurred at around 15:50 on Horodotska Street in Lviv. According to preliminary information, a Skoda Octavia driven by a 55-year-old Lviv resident collided with an electric bicycle ridden by an 18-year-old resident of Lviv. The cyclist was also injured and was taken to hospital.

In both cases, investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules). The article provides for a penalty of up to three years of restricted liberty with disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years.

The Lviv region police remind drivers of the need to strictly observe the Highway Code, stay alert, not exceed the speed limit, manoeuvre with care and constantly monitor the road situation.
