Man drowns in lake in Lviv region

On 21 June, at 19:07, rescuers received a report that a man born in 1969, a local resident, had dived into a local lake in the village of Nove Selo, Lviv district, at a distance of about 20 metres from the shore and did not emerge.

The fire and rescue department used a boat and special equipment to survey the lake.

The man’s body was brought to the surface in the morning of 22 June by the rescue and diving service.

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast once again appeals to citizens and emphasises that it is forbidden to rest near water bodies:

– swim in places that are not designated by local authorities and are not equipped for swimming;
– climb warning signs, buoys, tanks;
– jump into the water from boats, boats, bridges, structures not intended for this purpose;- drink alcohol before and during bathing;
– allow dangerous games in the water that involve limiting the movement of arms and legs;
– bathing of children without adult supervision.

All these rules and recommendations point to the importance of a responsible attitude to recreation on water. We must remember that the safety of ourselves and others is in our hands.
