Illegal extraction of minerals worth UAH 21 million: Lviv region: quarry manager to be tried
The estimated volume of illegally extracted sand is over 19,000 cubic metres. The accused faces imprisonment for a term of up to six years.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that the defendant, while holding the position of head of a quarry located in a village in Lviv district, instructed his subordinates to illegally extract sand outside the land plot defined by a special permit for the use of subsoil.
As a result, between August and November 2022, the company illegally extracted more than 19,000 cubic metres of sand.
The amount of damage caused to the state is over UAH 21 million.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office under Part 3 of Art. 240 (Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil, illegal extraction of mineral resources) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court.
The article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
The offender was exposed by investigators of the Department for Investigation of Crimes in the Sphere of Economic and Official Activities of the Investigation Department of the Lviv Police jointly with the SBU Office in Lviv region.
