The traffic accident occurred on March 20, around 3:00 p.m., on the Lviv-Sambir highway near the village of Zavydovychi, Lviv district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Renault Megane Scenic, a 47-year-old man from Lviv, lost control, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Mitsubishi Pagero driven by a 15-year-old resident of Rudka, Sambir district.
As a result of the accident, the drivers of both vehicles were injured and taken to a medical facility.
It was established that the Renault driver was intoxicated.
As a matter of fact, the investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
