In Lviv district, a young man exposed for withdrawing almost 2,000 dollars from a fellow villager’s card

In Lviv district, police have exposed a 20-year-old local resident suspected of stealing property and withdrawing almost two thousand dollars from a fellow villager’s bank card, the Lviv Region Police reported.

According to the investigation, the young man was in the house of a 65-year-old fellow villager, where he stole a mobile phone, a wallet with documents and bank cards. Later, according to law enforcement officers, he disposed of the stolen items at his own discretion and withdrew almost two thousand dollars from one of the cards.

Officers of the criminal police, together with investigators and other units of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 1, established the man’s involvement in the crime.

Under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified him that he is suspected under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft) and Part 1 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abduction, appropriation, extortion of documents, stamps, seals, unlawful seizure of them through fraud or abuse of office, or their damage). The maximum penalty under these articles is imprisonment for up to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect – detention in custody with the possibility of bail.
