In Lviv, 19-year-old drug dealer sentenced to 9 years in prison

In Lviv, a 19-year-old resident of Poltava region has been sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property, having been found guilty of trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities. This was reported by the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.

The investigation and the court established that the young man had purchased prohibited substances via the Telegram messenger, which he intended to sell by placing so-called ‘dead drops’ around Lviv.

On 09 June 2026, during curfew hours on Shevchenko Avenue in Lviv, law enforcement officers stopped him to check his documents. During the search they discovered and seized amphetamine, methamphetamine, PVP, two types of NBOMe, and various cannabinoids, all packaged in wraps and zip-lock bags.

Subsequently, law enforcement officers carried out an urgent search at the convict’s place of residence. There they found over 100 g of PVP, more than 20 g of mephedrone, over 33 g of cannabis and wraps containing ecstasy tablets prepared for sale. In total, during the arrest and search, more than 160 g of prohibited substances were seized.

The man was charged with the unlawful acquisition and possession for the purpose of sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances and narcotic drugs in particularly large quantities, committed repeatedly and by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 2, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Until the verdict enters into legal force, he will remain in custody.

The prosecutor’s office notes that the exposure took place as part of comprehensive measures to counter the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the Lviv region under the special operation ‘Rubicon’. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support from the Drug Enforcement Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region. The court verdict will enter into legal force after the expiry of the appeal period.
