
In Lviv, an elderly pedestrian was injured as a result of a car accident. Police are investigating the circumstances.
The road accident occurred on October 8, at about 12:10 PM, on Naukovyi Street in Lviv. According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, the driver of a Ford car, a 22-year-old resident of one of the villages in the Lviv district, hit a pedestrian, a 70-year-old man from Lviv. As a result of the accident, the elderly man sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized.
Investigators from the Lviv police’s transport crime investigation department have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 “Violation of traffic safety rules” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the event.
