In Lviv, man sentenced to 8 years for fatal assault on partner

In Lviv, a 46-year-old local man has been sentenced to 8 years’ imprisonment for beating his 49-year-old partner to death. Prosecutors from the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv proved his guilt in court.

As established by the court, in April 2025, in one of the flats in Lviv, a domestic dispute arose between the partners, rooted in personal animosity. During the row, over the course of several hours, the man shouted abuse and inflicted multiple blows with his hands and feet to various parts of the woman’s body.

As a result of the beating, the victim sustained grievous bodily injuries, including damage to the abdominal organs and massive internal bleeding. From the injuries sustained, the 49-year-old woman died at the scene.

After this, the convicted man called an acquaintance, telling him that he suspected his partner had died. Having made sure that the woman showed no signs of life, the man reported the incident to the police.

The actions of the convicted man were classified under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim). The court sentenced him to 8 years’ imprisonment. Until the verdict enters into legal force, the man will remain in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the Investigative Division of Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region. The verdict enters into legal force after the expiry of the time limit for lodging an appeal.
