Illegal Restaurants on Svobody Avenue in Lviv to be Dismantled

On Svobody Avenue, the restaurants “Talkative Mother-in-law” and “Gallery of Knights” are to be dismantled. The Supreme Court overturned previous court decisions that prohibited the dismantling. This was announced by Yevhen Boiko, the head of administration of the Lviv City Council. The restaurants were operating without the necessary permits and had a total area of 738 m².

These sites were set up in 2007 near the Faculty of Economics of Lviv National University and School No. 62, but their status changed to restaurants without agreements with the heritage protection authorities. The land lease was valid until 2024, after which the site permit also expired.

In December 2024, the Lviv City Council’s Department of Natural Resources demanded the removal of the structures. The owners, the company “BiNP LTD”, went to court, but the Supreme Court upheld the decision to dismantle.

“We hope the dismantling will be completed quickly, and we will soon have a beautiful area in front of the Garrison Church, the school, and the Faculty of Economics of Lviv National University,” — Yevhen Boiko.
