In Lviv, law enforcement officers exposed the director and chief engineer of a state enterprise in corruption activities.
As established by the authorities, the director and chief engineer of a branch of a state enterprise located in Lviv, abusing their official positions, demanded and received illegal benefits from the head of a private company. This was done in exchange for issuing a falsified protocol with positive test results of products, which were to be used in the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Furthermore, the funds received from the client for the conducted tests were not officially recorded by the perpetrators, but were divided among themselves and appropriated. On August 5, law enforcement officers detained the individuals under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving the illegal benefit.
They have been charged with committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 368 (‘Acceptance of an Offer, Promise, or Receipt of Illegal Benefit by an Official’) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment from five to ten years with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, along with confiscation of property.
The criminals were exposed by investigators of the general criminal investigative department of Lviv Region’s police, together with operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
