32-year-old man with knife detained at protest in Lviv

In Lviv, during a protest in the square by the Taras Shevchenko monument, participants detained a man with a knife and handed him over to the police.

According to preliminary reports, at around 21:00 a man with his face covered by a balaclava pulled out a knife and began moving towards the speakers. The participants of the protest quickly stopped him and handed him over to law enforcement officers who were nearby.

An investigative team and officers from other units of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 arrived at the scene. They established that the detained man is a 32-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk. A knife was seized from the scene.

According to available information, the man has mental health disorders. A decision is currently being made on placing him in a specialised institution. The information was made public by the National Police of Ukraine.
