A fatal road traffic collision occurred on 19 October at around 07:30 on Bohdanivska Street in Lviv. As a result of being hit by a car, a pedestrian was killed.
According to preliminary police information, a 70-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Passat ran over a 62-year-old pedestrian, a resident of Zolochiv district, and then left the scene.
The man died at the scene from his injuries. Police carried out search measures and established the driver’s whereabouts.
Investigators from the Department for the Investigation of Transport-Related Offences of the Lviv Region Police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles) and under Part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (leaving in danger).
The sanctions under these articles provide for imprisonment for up to ten years with disqualification from driving for up to ten years. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
