On 8 August, at around 08:20, a road traffic collision occurred on Luhanska Street in Lviv, in which an 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed.
According to the preliminary information of law enforcement officers, there was a collision between a Volkswagen Tiguan driven by a 39-year-old resident of Lviv district and a Honda CB 500S motorcycle ridden by an 18-year-old Lviv resident.
The motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries. Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the crash.
On the basis of the traffic collision, investigators of the Department for the Investigation of Transport-Related Crimes of the Lviv Region Police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles.
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a possible disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years or without such disqualification.
