
In Lviv, on Yaroslav Hašek Street, a fire broke out in a flat in a two-storey residential building. The incident occurred at 20:16 on 24 June, when the Rescue Service “101” received a report of a fire.
The flat on the second floor was on fire. By the time firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming from the kitchen window, where the fire had started, and there was heavy smoke inside the premises. Household items were burning over an area of about 10 sq.m.
Before the firefighters arrived, the occupants of the flat had left the dangerous premises. As a result of the incident, a 41-year-old man sustained burns to his hands and legs and was taken to a medical facility in Lviv.
There were also two cats in the flat. Firefighters searched the smoke-filled rooms, found the animals, carried them outside and handed them over to their owners.
The fire was contained at 20:28 and fully extinguished at 20:35. Nine firefighters and two units of specialist equipment were involved in tackling the blaze. Experts are establishing the causes and circumstances of the fire.
