In Lviv workshop head sold fake employment with military exemption for $4,000

In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained the head of a workshop at a design bureau who organized an illegal scheme to help individuals evade mobilization by issuing military service exemptions.

According to the investigation, the official used the enterprise’s critical infrastructure status to offer fictitious employment to a conscripted man. This would allow the man to obtain an official deferment from military service.

To avoid exposure, the suspect planned to personally oversee the entire exemption process. He valued his “services” at $4,000 USD.

Police detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine immediately after receiving the full payment.

Investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region have charged him under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — accepting an unlawful benefit by an official. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

The Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office for the Western Region is overseeing the case.
