In Lviv, drink-driving motorist causes major crash on Stryiska Street

In Lviv, on Stryiska Street, a major road traffic collision occurred in which two people were injured. The crash took place on 9 July at around 14:50.

According to preliminary information from law enforcement officers, a 34-year-old Lviv resident, driving a Kia Sportage while under the influence of alcohol, collided with several vehicles. The collision damaged a Volkswagen Golf, a Ford Explorer, a Tesla Model 3 and a Nissan Qashqai.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Kia Sportage and the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, a 21-year-old resident of the city of Stryi, sustained bodily injuries. Both casualties were taken to hospital.

Investigators from Police Station No.2 of Lviv District Police Department No.2 have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated. The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment with disqualification from driving for a period of three to five years.

Police officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
