The police arrested the attacker. He faces up to eight years in prison for his crime.
As the law enforcement officers established, on September 3 at 11:20 p.m. on Simon Petlyura Street in Lviv, a conflict arose between a company driving a Volkswagen Passat car and a company of pedestrians, the reason for which was that the “pedestrians”, in the opinion of the “motorists”, were crossing too slowly roadway with a pedestrian crossing.
During the dispute, one of the passengers of the car, who was in an intoxicated state, stabbed one of the pedestrians – a 20-year-old man from Lviv twice with a knife, causing him bodily injuries. After that, the “motorists” drove away from the scene, and the friends of the injured pedestrian called the emergency line 102.
Later, the victim was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with, in particular, a “penetrating stab wound to the back.”
Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department, as well as patrol police officers, were involved in solving the crime.
A complex of operative and search measures was carried out, during which the patrol officers discovered a Volkswagen Passat car in which the perpetrator fled from the scene. Law enforcement officers also detained a man who stabbed the victim in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine – he turned out to be a 31-year-old resident of Lviv.
Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee, and the issue of notifying him of the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in Part 1 of Article 121 (Deliberate grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is also being resolved. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.
