
On the evening of 12 August in Lviv, on the “Lviv-Persenkivka” section, a Kyiv–Ivano-Frankivsk passenger train fatally injured a 42-year-old Lviv resident.
The incident occurred at about 22:15 at the first marker post of the section on Arkasa Street. According to preliminary police information, the train hit a man who was sitting on the track. He died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators from Police Station No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 have opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of safety rules for the operation of railway, water or air transport). The article provides for a sentence of five to ten years’ imprisonment.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident and carrying out the necessary investigative actions.
