
In Lviv, an indictment has been submitted to the court against a 31-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk, who is accused of carrying out an armed robbery against a pensioner in her flat. For the offence with which he is charged, the man faces up to fifteen years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, on 23 May at about 21:00 the accused entered a flat in one of the buildings on Yaroslav Hashek Street in Lviv. There he attacked a 66-year-old resident and, threatening her with a knife, demanded that she hand over money and valuables.
The frightened woman gave the attacker her pension in the amount of 3,000 hryvnias and several pieces of jewellery, after which he fled. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries during the attack.
To identify and detain the suspect, officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff from other units of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 2 were involved, as well as officers from the criminal investigation department, the criminal analysis unit and other divisions of the Lviv region police. Law enforcement officers established the man’s whereabouts and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery) has been completed. The indictment has been sent to the court for consideration, and the maximum penalty the accused faces is imprisonment for up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.
