A fire broke out in a flat on the fourth floor of a five-storey residential building on Masaryk Street in Lviv, in which the owner of the property, born in 1936, died.
The report of the fire reached the rescuers at 06:14 on 25 October. By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, thick smoke was already pouring from the windows of the fourth floor.
During the search and firefighting operation, rescuers found the woman who lived in the flat. Together with paramedics, they carried out resuscitation, but were unable to save her.
The fire was extinguished at 06:49. Twelve rescuers and three units of specialist equipment were deployed to tackle the blaze.
Experts are establishing the causes and circumstances of the fire.
