The attack on law enforcement officers took place while they were performing their official duties to ensure public order during investigative actions. The suspect, a 32-year-old resident of Vynnyky, faces up to five years in prison for his actions.
On 10 July, at about 21.30, the police received a report from operatives of the Bureau of Economic Security that unknown persons were obstructing investigative actions on Shevchenko Street in Vynnyky.
To ensure public order, officers of the Patrol Police Department of Lviv region immediately arrived at the address. While performing their duties, the law enforcement officers were attacked by an unknown man, inflicting bodily injuries on two of them.
Criminal police operatives of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police and community police officers were involved in identifying the offender and his whereabouts.
The law enforcement officers established that the injuries to the patrol policemen were inflicted by a 32-year-old resident of Vynnyky.
Investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural supervision of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of restriction of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
