
In Lviv, on the grounds of a medical facility on Lemkivska Street, a fire broke out in the early hours of 15 August, damaging a generator unit. According to law enforcement, the blaze was caused by deliberate arson.
The report of the fire reached the police at around three o’clock in the morning. An investigative team, forensic specialists and staff from other services of Police Department No.1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No.1 attended the scene. SESU rescuers contained the fire, after which police officers established the nature of the damage to the equipment.
In the course of their measures, law enforcement officers established that a 35-year-old Lviv resident was involved in the arson. The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional destruction or damage to property. The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing; a decision is being made on notifying the detainee of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure for him.
