The suspect, a 22-year-old resident of Vinnytsia region, who, while in one of the penitentiaries in Lviv, using social networks, offered fictitious services for the sale of wood, was reportedly suspected
According to investigators of the Lviv District Police Department №1 together with operatives of the Department for Combating Cybercrime in Lviv Region and employees of the operational department of the Lviv Penitentiary under the procedural guidance of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office, the attacker posted fake messages on social networks about sale and free delivery. However, after receiving the funds on the card accounts, he stopped contacting the victims.
During the searches, law enforcement officers confiscated mobile phones, draft records and other physical evidence.
Investigators informed the perpetrator of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud committed on a large scale or by illegal operations using electronic computers) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers identify all persons who have suffered from the actions of the perpetrator.
