Police detain offender who robbed a passer-by in Lviv

A 20-year-old resident of Lviv stole an iPhone, documents and bank cards from a resident of Lviv region. He faces up to eight years in prison for his crime.

Criminal police operatives, investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 and officers of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police, under the procedural supervision of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office, were involved in solving the crime.

According to law enforcement officers, on 7 November at 00.30 a.m. on Kushevycha Street in Lviv, the offender stole a 51-year-old stranger’s phone, documents and bank cards and fled.

The police conducted a series of operational and investigative measures, studied CCTV footage and established the offender’s whereabouts.

The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

He was served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 4 Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
