A 36-year-old resident of the Yavoriv district was found and seized with more than 100 bags of a powdery substance similar to narcotics and several dozen pills – all packaged and ready for distribution.
On January 26, around 3:50 p.m., a police district officer of Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, while patrolling the territory, noticed a man behaving suspiciously on General Kurmanovych Street in Lviv.
During a cursory inspection, prepackaged and ready-to-distribute bags of narcotic substances wrapped in insulating tape of different colors were found in his possession.
The investigative and operative group of the territorial division of the police worked on the spot. Law enforcement officers established the identity of the perpetrator, a 36-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Yavoriv district, and also discovered and seized from him 104 bags of a powdery substance, outwardly similar to methadone, as well as 13 rolls of drug-containing pills.
Everything removed is directed to expert research.
Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 1 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of four to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
