A Former Officer of a Municipal Enterprise in Lviv Accused of Abuse of Power
As a result of the perpetrator’s illegal actions, the Lviv Territorial Community suffered damages amounting to more than 200 thousand UAH.
Investigation and Accusation
The suspect, the head of the internal security service of one of Lviv’s municipal enterprises, was exposed by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 and operatives of the Cybercrime Counteraction Department in Lviv Region, under the procedural supervision of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
As law enforcement officers established, in 2023, the official organized a tender for the purchase and installation of surveillance systems at the municipal enterprise’s facilities, in which a predetermined contractor won. Subsequently, he drafted official documents containing deliberately false information regarding the amount and cost of the installed equipment, resulting in damages to the Lviv Territorial Community amounting to more than 200 thousand UAH.
Court Proceedings
Pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding, opened under Part 1 of Article 364 (Abuse of Power or Official Position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent for court consideration.
The maximum penalty the accused faces is imprisonment for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with a fine ranging from two hundred fifty to seven hundred fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
