For the crime committed, the suspect is liable to imprisonment for up to ten years, with confiscation of property.
The perpetrator was exposed by the investigators of the particularly serious crimes investigation department (detectives) of the investigative department of the Lviv Oblast Police together with operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Oblast, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the deputy director of one of the Lviv colleges demanded and received an illegal benefit in the amount of 35,000 hryvnias from the entrepreneur for assistance in providing him with a 100-square-meter room for rent in an educational institution – for entrepreneurial activities and without following the official procedure for the transfer of this room for rent
On August 7, law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator while receiving the entire amount of illegal benefits in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
