It was established that the members of the criminal group – all Lviv residents aged 20 to 54, two of them women – organized the illegal sale of drug-containing pills on the territory of Lviv.
The perpetrators were exposed by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Region Police and the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region, investigators of Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, and employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Region Police, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
The members of the group – the 33-year-old organizer, salesmen and guides – had clearly divided roles. During the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers documented the facts of the criminals’ sale of drug-containing tablets to drug-addicted citizens in Lviv “from hand to hand.”
On July 11, the organizer of the group and three perpetrators were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The detentions were carried out with the force support of KORD fighters and special forces of the Lviv region police.
During the authorized searches, the law enforcement officers discovered and confiscated from the perpetrators almost 600 drug-containing tablets and other drugs, electronic scales, draft records and other material evidence. Everything removed is directed to expert research.
According to “black market” prices, the value of seized drug-containing tablets is about 250,000 hryvnias.
The investigators informed the perpetrators of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose preventive measures for the suspects.
Law enforcement officers also set up channels for the supply of narcotic drugs to group members.
