The 28-year-old man, who temporarily lives in Lviv, was exposed by operatives of the Office for Combating Narcotic Crimes in the Lviv Region together with investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
On August 24, law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on Kulparkivska Street in Lviv. He had eight packages with a substance similar to the narcotic drug “cannabis” with a total weight of about 70 grams.
In addition, during the authorized search of the detainee’s residence, the police discovered and seized substances similar to the narcotic drug “cannabis” weighing more than 1,600 grams, psychotropic substances, packaging materials, electronic scales and other physical evidence.
The total value of seized prohibited substances at black market prices is about 700,000 hryvnias. Everything is directed to expert research.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention with the possibility of bail.
