The perpetrator, a 38-year-old man from Lviv, was exposed by the operatives of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv Region together with the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office.
For what he committed, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
As the law enforcement officers established, the man distributed narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances using messengers on the Internet, as well as sending mail.
It was during regular transfers that the law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He had with him 5 cardboard boxes, which contained 5 plastic bags with a substance similar to the psychotropic drug “PVP”, with a total weight of about 20 grams.
In addition, during the authorized search of the detainee’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered and seized substances similar to the psychotropic substances “PVP” and “methamphetamine”, narcotic drugs “cannabis” and “poppy straw”, as well as electronic scales, packaging materials and other items evidence
The value of the detected substances at black market prices is about 100,000 hryvnias.
Everything removed was sent to expert research.
The investigators informed the perpetrator of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
