The cash box remained undamaged. A 28-year-old resident of Luhansk region, who at the time of the crime was wearing a uniform jacket and posing as a police officer, faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
As the employees of Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 established, today, March 23, around 8:30 a.m., an unknown man took possession of a box for donations for the treatment of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was installed in one of the shopping and entertainment centers on Kulparkivska Street in Lviv and fled the scene.
At the same time, the attacker, who was dressed in a uniform police jacket, introduced himself as a police officer to the mall guards.
The fugitive was chased by the security guards of the shopping and entertainment center, and in addition to that, employees of all police units were targeting him. Soon after, patrolling policemen noticed a man on Naukovya Street, similar to the description of the robber, and arrested him.
The identity of the fugitive was established – he turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Luhansk region, who temporarily lives in Lviv.
The cash box, which the intruder took possession of, remained undamaged.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The issue of opening a criminal proceeding based on the fact of arbitrary assignment of power by the perpetrator is also being resolved.
The pseudo-policeman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him – detention.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
