Lviv Resident to Stand Trial for Disclosing Military Data and Fraud

The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against a 40-year-old resident of Lviv, accusing him of disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and committing fraud. He is charged under Part 2 of Article 114-2 and Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in January 2024, the accused, posing as an activist, shared details during a live broadcast about the deployment of personnel from one of the Territorial Recruitment Centers in the Rivne region. He revealed information that could be used to identify military personnel on the ground. The video recording of this broadcast was subsequently published on his Facebook and Telegram pages.

Additionally, the man is accused of fraud. He organized “intensive courses” on journalism and legal advocacy, promising participants journalist credentials from a non-operational media outlet. The course fee was 7,000 UAH. However, the newspaper was not registered, and the issued credentials held no legal validity.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region in cooperation with the Lviv police.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
