The 30-year-old accused faces a punishment of up to three years of imprisonment.
As the law enforcement officers established, on October 1 at around 9:30 a.m. at the Pidzamche railway station in Lviv, an intruder took possession of a mobile phone belonging to a 76-year-old resident of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. A pensioner asked a stranger to replace her SIM card in her phone, however, instead of helping, the man ran away from the station, taking the phone with him. Later, he gave the gadget to a pawn shop, and he appropriated and spent the money at his discretion.
Detectives of the criminal police of the police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1, as well as employees of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Police of the Lviv Oblast were involved in solving the crime. Through the conducted measures, after studying the recordings of the video surveillance cameras of the Bezpechna Lvivshchyna system, the law enforcement officers established the identity of the attacker – he turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of the city of Brovary, Kyiv region.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed, the indictment has been referred to the court.
The maximum penalty for the accused is imprisonment for a term of up to three years.
