The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. The accused, a previously convicted 65-year-old resident of Lviv, faces imprisonment for up to nine years with confiscation of property.
According to law enforcement, the offender organized the smuggling of at least eight citizens of Ukraine liable for military service across the state border.
In particular, the accused instructed his “clients”, ensured their delivery to the border of Ukraine with the Republic of Poland, temporary accommodation, and provided transportation services.
Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office, completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.
The accused, who is in custody, faces imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
