Attacker to be tried in Lviv for threatening to blow up high-rise building

The defendant faces a sentence of up to six years’ imprisonment for falsely reporting a threat to the safety of citizens.

According to law enforcement officers, on 23 March at 15.49, a 26-year-old Lviv resident, who was in a state of intoxication, said he would blow up a high-rise building on Shevchenko Street in Lviv.

Officers of all police services in Lviv region were sent to the address. Law enforcement officers inspected the building and the surrounding area. No explosives were found.

Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, have completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Knowingly false report of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property). The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.
