The Lviv Regional Police remind all road users of the importance of adhering to traffic safety rules. Drivers are urged to avoid exceeding permitted speeds, particularly in residential areas and under adverse weather conditions. Attention should remain focused on the road to prevent distractions. Pedestrians are advised to cross streets only at designated areas and to follow all safety precautions.
On January 3, two separate road accidents in Lviv region left pedestrians injured:
- First Accident: Around 8:20 a.m. on Lysenetska Street in Lviv, a 19-year-old driver of a Skoda Superb from Novoyavorivsk struck a 45-year-old woman on a pedestrian crossing. The victim sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
- Second Accident: Around 10:30 p.m. on the Lviv–Ivano-Frankivsk–Mukachevo highway near the village of Khodorkivtsi, a 63-year-old Opel driver from Lviv hit a 46-year-old local resident walking on the roadway. The injured man was also hospitalized.
Both incidents are under investigation, with criminal cases opened under Article 286, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules). The maximum penalty includes up to three years of restricted freedom and a three-year driving ban.
The police are working to determine the circumstances of the accidents.
