Fight in Lviv: Group to be Tried for Deadly Attack

A group of individuals will be tried in Lviv for a deadly attack near a nightclub.

Prosecutors from the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv have sent an indictment to the court against a group of individuals. **The investigation established** that in the spring, near a nightclub in the center of Lviv, three men beat a patron to death. Allegedly, while at the entertainment venue, a sudden conflict arose between the accused and a 47-year-old local resident. To “settle the dispute,” the men went outside. During the altercation, the accused attacked the victim, delivering multiple blows with their hands and feet all over his body.

The man was hospitalized but died a week later from his injuries. All the accused are charged with intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim’s death (Part 2, Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They are currently in custody. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv oblast.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
