
During the night of 18 August, a battery intended for charging a car exploded in a flat on the third floor of a five-storey building on Henerala Tarnavskoho Street in Lviv. A report of smoke and an explosion reached rescuers at 04:40.
After the explosion, there was no further burning, however the flat owner sustained thermal burns and was taken to hospital. As a result of the incident, two windows in the flat and one window in the stairwell were damaged.
Rescuers, medics, police officers and gas service workers attended the scene and inspected the flat and the building.
Rescuers urge people not to leave charging devices and rechargeable batteries unattended while charging, and to use only functioning and certified equipment. In the event of a dangerous situation, you must immediately call 101.
