In Lviv, Ford driver who fled from police may face criminal charges

In Lviv, a 24-year-old Ford driver ignored a patrol officers’ order to stop and attempted to flee from the police. The pursuit ended in the Riasne-1 neighbourhood, where the car was successfully blocked.

As the inspectors established, the man had been stripped of his driving licence for driving under the influence. At the end of June this year, he had already been caught for a repeat drink-driving offence.

The patrol officers drew up reports on the offender under Article 122-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (failure to comply with an order to stop) and under Part 5 of Article 126 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (repeat driving of a vehicle while deprived of a driving licence), as well as a detention report. They also issued a number of separate penalty notices for traffic violations committed during the escape.

In addition to the administrative materials, the man may also face criminal liability under Article 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (failure to comply with a court decision). The offender’s car was towed to a special impound lot.
