
In Lviv, police detained a female driver who, in a state of alcohol intoxication, caused an accident with three victims, including a four-year-old girl.
The traffic accident occurred on December 26, around 10:00 PM, on Horodotska Street in Lviv. The scene was promptly attended by the investigative-operational team of Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, employees of the Patrol Police Department in Lviv region, and a medical team from the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine.
As preliminarily established by law enforcement officers, the driver of a Citroen C4, a 46-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, and collided with a Toyota Camry driven by a 41-year-old resident of Lviv.
As a result of the accident, the Toyota Camry driver and her passengers, a four-year-old girl and a 43-year-old man – both Lviv residents – sustained injuries and were taken to medical facilities.
It has been established that the Citroen C4 driver was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. She has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators from Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of road traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles in a state of intoxication) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
