In Lviv, firefighters rescued a man from a balcony during a fire in a high-rise block

In the early hours of 31 May, a fire broke out in a flat on the second floor of a block of flats on Chervonoyi Kalyny Street in Lviv, from which rescuers evacuated a man. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast.

The report of smoke coming from the window of a flat in a nine-storey residential building reached rescuers at 02:29. When the fire crews arrived at the scene, there was a man on the balcony of the burning second-floor flat, calling for help and unable to get out on his own due to heavy smoke.

Household items were on fire. Using an extension ladder, the firefighters rescued the man from the balcony and extinguished the blaze. The fire was contained at 02:59 and fully extinguished at 03:05.

Eight firefighters and two units of specialist equipment were involved in tackling the fire. According to the rescuers, no one was injured in the incident.
