In Lviv, a Military Conscription Evader Trafficker Was Exposed

In Lviv, the National Police exposed another trafficker who was transporting conscripted men abroad.

Operatives from the Lviv office of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police, together with investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, exposed an illegal scheme attempted by a 36-year-old resident of the Zhytomyr region. **The perpetrator promised to help a man illegally leave the country**. The service cost $15,000. The suspect faces up to 9 years of imprisonment.

It was revealed that the enterprising trafficker decided to make money off a conscripted man who wanted to avoid mobilization. He offered him a supposedly “tested” escape plan to cross into a neighboring country. For $15,000, the suspect promised to organize the man’s transfer to a border area in another region, where the crossing was to take place.

Moreover, the perpetrator assured the “client” that the scheme was reliable and gave several tips on behavior rules in the neighboring foreign country and the essential items to have. He agreed to proceed only upon payment for the service. Law enforcement officers detained the trafficker immediately after receiving the entire sum of money from the man for the so-called “ticket” to Europe. Material evidence was seized.

Investigators of the Lviv police have already charged him with suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For his actions, he faces up to 9 years of imprisonment. The procedural management is conducted by the Lviv specialized prosecution in the field of defense of the Western region. The exposure activities were conducted in cooperation with the operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region and the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
