In Lviv, law enforcement officers exposed a couple from Drohobych district suspected of storing amphetamine for sale in a rented flat in the city’s Lychakiv district. This is reported on the basis of investigative data from the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv.
The investigation established that in August this year, a 26-year-old man and his 19-year-old cohabiting partner rented accommodation in Lviv. Before that, they had purchased in bulk a psychotropic substance via Telegram, and subsequently planned to sell amphetamine in Lviv at retail through so-called ‘dead drops’ and postal shipments.
During a search of the dwelling, law enforcement officers discovered and seized almost 5 g of amphetamine (in terms of the ‘pure’ substance), which under the law is classified as a large amount.
Under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, the cohabitants have been notified of suspicion of the unlawful purchase and storage with intent to sell psychotropic substances subject to restricted circulation, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Investigative actions are ongoing, and other possible participants in the unlawful activity are being identified. Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of a court.
