Group Caught with 1.3 kg of Drugs in Lviv

A group of individuals preparing for large-scale drug trafficking was caught in Lviv.

Under the procedural guidance of the Halytsky District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv, members of the group, natives of Kyiv and Cherkasy regions, were charged. They are accused of the illegal acquisition and storage for sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances (Part 3 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, a woman and two men intended to organize the illegal distribution of a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance – 4-MMC. To this end, one of the suspects residing in Kyiv sent the psychotropic substance via mail to Lviv. After receiving it, the acquaintances of the Kyivan were supposed to distribute the prohibited substance through so-called ‘caches’.

Law enforcement officers detained his acquaintances – a man and a woman, right on the street with 20 packages of 4-MMC and 4 packages of cocaine, ready for sale. Each weighing 1 gram. During searches at their residence, 505 grams of PVP, 458 grams of methylmethcathinone, and a zip-bag with cocaine were also found and seized. Additionally, about 35 grams of methylmethcathinone and 250 grams of PVP were seized from the Kyivan. The total weight of the confiscated drugs and psychotropic substances is over 1.3 kg.

All suspects were detained pursuant to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures for the suspects in the form of detention without bail is being addressed. The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the Regional Police Department of Drug Crimes.

Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
