
In the evening of 23 May, a fire broke out in a flat on the fifth floor of a block of flats on Heroiv UPA Street in Lviv. The incident was reported at 20:05, according to the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.
According to rescuers, smoke could be seen coming from the window of a flat in the five-storey residential building. By the time the fire and rescue units arrived, the fifth-floor flat was already completely ablaze, with household items burning.
Because of the heavy smoke, firefighters worked using breathing apparatus. With the help of a special rescue device, they brought one person out into the fresh air.
The fire was contained at 20:29 and fully extinguished at 20:35, preventing the flames from spreading to the building’s roof. A total of 20 rescuers and 7 units of specialist equipment were involved in tackling the blaze.
No one was injured in the incident.
