
A pedestrian was killed in Lviv as a result of a car accident, and the police are investigating the circumstances.
The traffic accident occurred on May 27, around midnight, on Kulparkivska Street in Lviv. Preliminary investigations by law enforcement officers indicate that the driver of a Mazda car, a 22-year-old resident of Lviv, struck a pedestrian, a 48-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The man died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators from the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv police have opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 ‘Violation of road safety regulations’ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with deprivation of the right to drive for up to three years or without such. Law enforcement is establishing the circumstances of the incident.
