
On August 30, a shocking assassination occurred in Lviv: former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and current Member of Parliament Andriy Parubiy was shot dead on Yefremova Street, 42, in the city’s Frankivskyi district.
The attacker fired at least eight rounds at the politician, killing him instantly. The perpetrator fled the scene, prompting the launch of a special police operation named “Siren.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko briefed him on the case. He expressed his condolences to Parubiy’s family and noted that all necessary resources have been mobilized to investigate the crime.

Surveillance cameras recorded the moment of the shooting. Based on the footage, police have already identified leads on the suspected killer and expect to apprehend him soon.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — premeditated murder.
