Drug Courier with Drugs Worth 50 Thousand Detained in Lviv

In Lviv, police detained an 18-year-old drug courier from Rivne region, suspected of purchasing and distributing psychotropic substances.

The estimated value of the confiscated drugs and psychotropics at black market prices is over 50 thousand hryvnias. Officers from the Drug Crime Control Unit, together with investigators from Lviv District Police Department No. 1, established that the suspect had set up a scheme for supplying and distributing psychotropic substances within Ukraine.

Law enforcement documented the illegal activities of the suspect and on June 16 detained him in Lviv while attempting to send packages containing the psychotropic substance PVP. During a sanctioned search at the suspect’s residence, police discovered and seized: zip-lock bags with substances resembling cannabis, PVP, and mephedrone, as well as packaging tools, electronic scales, and other material evidence of his involvement in illegal activities.

All items seized were sent for examination at the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Investigators from the territorial unit, under the procedural guidance of the Halytska District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation continues, and the court will soon choose preventive measures for the suspect.
