Detainment in Lviv: Assault on Police Officers and Criminal Proceedings
In Lviv, law enforcement officers apprehended an offender who inflicted bodily harm on patrol police officers. During the response to a call-out, the individual at the scene began a conflict and attacked the officers with fists. He faces up to five years of imprisonment for his actions.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 22:25 on Stryiska Street in Lviv. A patrol police unit received a call about a fight. Upon arrival, officers found a man sitting at the wheel of a Mazda, visibly in a state of alcohol intoxication, and the victim was no longer present.
During the clarification of circumstances, the 30-year-old local resident began to conflict with the police and inflicted bodily harm on them. The law enforcement officers detained the offender and called the investigative team of Lviv District Police Department No. 2. The offender was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Criminal Proceedings
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under part 2 of Article 345 – Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for restraint of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
Pre-trial investigation continues, and the issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure is being resolved.
